Ascending Node – An orbital node is the intersection of the celestial ecliptic and the orbital plane of a astronomical body. During an Ascending Node, the orbital body is crossing from the southern to the northern hemisphere of the celestial sphere. This gives the appearance of the object ascending. Eclipses can only occur when the Moon is close to a lunar orbital node.
