Third Quarter Moon – After three-fourths of the Moon’s cycle, it is at its Last Quarter phase. It is now perpendicular to the Sun and Earth, but on the other side as the First Quarter Moon. Again, the Sun only illuminates about half of the Moon’s surface as viewed from the Earth. The Moon now rises around midnight and sets close to noon.
