Descending Node – An orbital node is the intersection of the celestial ecliptic and the orbital plane of a astronomical body. During a Descending Node, the orbital body is crossing from the northern to the southern hemisphere of the celestial sphere. This gives the appearance of the object descending. Eclipses can only occur when the Moon is close to a lunar orbital node.
